Emergency On Flight 666

There was an epic winter storm arriving soon that would pummel the west coast and I was escaping just in time. Little did I know that on this flight, at 30,000 feet, we would encounter an emergency. It was serene and calm outside and the captain turned off the seat belt signs, but inside the cabin, we were about to get hit hard. The Missing Valentines Day Card

On Valentine’s day several years ago, something strange happened. There were three cards in my mailbox. One for my wife Pam and my two daughters. There was no Valentine’s day card for my son and me.

I wrinkled my brow and thought how curious my son and I are feminists and we practice Bhakti yoga. Who would send my girls a card and not one for me and my son? Then I realized the cards were coming from Mickey, my father-in-law. I think to myself, how could Mickey send these Valentine day card...

Divot On My Heart

As Charlie’s heart failure worsened, his twig-like fingers searched over his chest and he asked, “Doc, can you show me where my heart is?” Confused, I pointed just left of his sternum and inquired, “Why do you ask?” He explained he feels like he is drowning and uttered “I grew up on a farm Doc and if things get worse a shotgun to the heart is quick, but can be messy!”
